Bonfire Night – What’s it all about?

4th November 2014.
by Sarah.

We ‘remember remember the 5th of November’

However many of us haven’t the foggiest what Bonfire night is actually about

…Apart from the fact that we get to wrap up warm, OOOHH/AAAHHH at the fireworks and munch on Treacle Toffee/Hotdogs/Toffee Apples
…(delete as appropriate)

With the big night happening tomorrow, here is  the 411 on what Bonfire Night is all about…

Bonfire Night is celebrated on the 5th of November each year.
This old English tradition has been around for over 400 years, and is all about remembering the ‘Gun Powder Plot’.

But what is the ‘Gun Powder Plot’?

On the 5th of November 1605, Guy Fawkes was arrested while guarding explosives under the houses of parliament.
Due to his arrest and the Gunpowder Plot failing, King James was saved and fires were lit around London in celebration.

However you are spending tomorrow night – have fun and stay safe
