Describe your job in a tweet :
Emails. Bars, Beats repeat.
Work hard, slay hard. I start my day…
I’m a simple woman. A bowl of coco pops & I’m ready to go!! When I have the time I do like to blend up some good stuff with my nutribullet though. Keeps me topped up until lunch.
I try & tackle though most of my emails/ enquires or promotional content in the morning too. It’s like as soon as 12 hits all my creativity kicks in and it doesn’t want to deal with the business side of music at all.
Who did you listen to growing up?
I heard a good mix growing up; I come from a big family so I was pretty much forced to listen to everything! My older cousins would play a lot of Hip-Hop & R&B : Busta rhymes, Jay-Z, Outkast, TLC, Aaliyah, Miss Elliot…
One of my cousins was into a lot of Rock so I started getting into it too as a teenager too, starting with bands like Linkin Park, Rage Against the Machine, Fall Out Boy & Paramore.
Then my sister would play a lot of Garage & Grime… That was my first real introduction to UK music; Pay As U Go, Heartless Crew, Ms Dynamite & Sticky, Kano, More Fire Crew, So Solid, Dizzee Rascal.
What’s your guilty pleasure track?
I can’t really say I have one, like if I like a song I’m committed with no shame…
Justin Bieber- Boyfriend is a banger. Standard.
I feel like a lot of rappers feel they have to keep a rock solid personality & take themselves too seriously but I’m not for that…
Somedays just relax yourself & sing to some ABBA.
A standard week includes…
Writing lyrics, checking out gigs & open mics; sometimes not even to perform, to just network & see what else is popping in Birmingham; Planning ahead- When I’m releasing something, 9/10 I already have more stuff or ideas lined up; And if I’m not doing anything musical, then I’m probably just chilling with my family.
My mom’s house is sort of like the hub of my family so it’s active most of the time.
What’s the last album you listened to all the way through? And who are you listening to at the moment?
Tyler The Creator -Flower Boy
I’ve been a fan of Tyler’s for a while so you can definitely hear his growth as a person and musician in this album. Love it!
I’m also listening to a lot of Santan Dave, Jaykae (#0121) and IAMDDB right now. I play them all at least once a day.
You can only listen to one album for the rest of your life, what is it?
The Miseducation Of Lauryn Hill. One of my favourite albums of all time that I can’t get sick of. It’s just one of those classics. You’ve got the slow jams for when you want to be all in your feelings; & the rap flows when you want to feel empowered.
When it comes to power dressing, the shoes that make me feel like a boss bae are…
I’m ALL about colour co-ordination or shoes that really POP. Whether I’m rocking knee high boots, peeptoe heels or trainers, I love a good splash of colour!
I’m all for those bright colours.
You’ve just won the Urban Development Rated Award, how did that come about?
I was just tagged to the Instagram video by a friend telling me to enter. I got involved straight away & told more artist in Birmingham to get on it… Really didn’t think of the possibility of actually winning it. I just liked the beat & thought I might as well “attempt” to kill it
What are you most looking forward to next your career after winning?
I’m just looking forward to getting some more music out and really upping my game with everything I do!
