Chocolate craving – see you later!

So we’re on track with our #Fitspo routine, working on those killer abs and squatting for a pure peachy booty, but there’s just one little thing that we can’t shake…chocolate cravings!

In order to satisfy our craving for a sweet treat, we’ve uncovered our favourite recipes to say see you later choccy craving.

Think of a chocolate brownie but better… ‘How can this be?’ we hear you ask!

Date energy balls

Small enough to pop in your lunch box, these bite-size wonders are all you need to power through the day…and night. They’re seriously healthy and full of fibre without making you feel like you’re munching on bird food.

Ingredients

2  small cups of any nuts of your choice, we’re diggin’ on walnuts.

1 cup shredded unsweetened coconut.

2 cups soft Medjool dates, pitted.

2 tablespoons coconut oil.

1 teaspoon sea salt.

1 teaspoon vanilla extract.

Method

Blend the coconut and nuts until they’re crumbly in consistency, slowly add in the salt, dates, coconut oil and vanilla extract until a nice batter is formed. 

Roll the mixture in between the palms of your hands to form little balls. Then arrange them on a greaseproof baking sheet.

Pop them into the freezer for around an hour before tucking in.

Your date balls will have a shelf life of a week when stored in an airtight container in the fridge. They last…and taste even better when left in the freezer.

Oatmeal cookies with avocado

Seriously satisfying and super healthy, oatmeal cookies with avocado are perfect for days when you need a pick me up but don’t want to veer off your healthy eating plan.

Ingredients

118g mashed avocado.

118g cup brown sugar.

70g cup chopped walnuts or almonds.

60g cup granulated sugar.

1 teaspoon vanilla extract.

1 egg.

60g cup unsweetened cocoa powder.

1 teaspoon baking soda.

1 cup oats

118g cup flour.

Method

Preheat your oven to 180°C.

Line two cookie sheets with a baking sheet.

Puree the avocado in a blender… or if you’re looking for an extra work out…Mash it with a fork until it has the consistency of mash potato… no lumps!

Stir the avocado and vegetable oil in a bowl, adding in the vanilla, sugar, cocoa and egg until the batter is nice and smooth. Then add the baking soda, a pinch of salt if you want, flour and oats. You can also add in your nuts at this point too.

Drop 2 tablespoonfuls of the dough onto the baking sheet and bake in the oven for around 8-10 minutes.

Cool the cookies on a baking tray before tucking in. They’re best eaten within three days.
