How To Love Yourself

14th February 2020.
by Megan Biggin.

It’s getting to that time of year again, no unfortunately not Pancake Day (less than two weeks and counting, get it in your diary). Valentine’s Day. And whether you’re doing date night or mate night, loved up or in a situationship, we’ve got some top tips that EVERYONE needs for learning how to love yourself that little bit more.

Go To The Cinema Alone

Really what could be more of a solo activity than watching a film? Yes it’s a little intimidating at first but you’ll be surprised at just how many people go to the cinema by themselves. Think about it, no one sharing your food, talking to you or just generally being in your space. You don’t even need to look good either. Forget that makeup, throw on some joggers and hit the popcorn counter.

Table For One Please

Once you’ve conquered the cinema, it’s time to level up. Now this one is scary, there’s no hiding in a dark room here but we promise you’ll be absolutely fine. Start easy, somewhere like Nandos or Bella Italia, take a book to read or just sit and people watch. All the food you want and your own company, what could be better? If that’s too daunting then just order in babe, Deliveroo is your best friend.

Treat Yo’self

You are a strong independent woman who doesn’t need to wait for any man to buy her flowers. Next time you’re out shopping get yourself the chocolates and teddy bear. Those gorg lace up heels you’ve seen on PD? Get them. A new eyeshadow palette? Do it! We’re not telling you to absolutely rinse your overdraft but once the bills are paid, it can’t hurt to get a little something to you, from you.

Compliment Yourself

We can all afford to be a little kinder to ourselves. Whether it’s looking at the way you speak to yourself or just letting a few of the little things go. Instead of picking out your flaws, think about all the things you love about yourself. Didn’t make it to the gym this week? Don’t be so hard on yourself, look at everything else you’ve achieved. We’re all just out here trying our best and you’re going to feel much happier once you stop putting yourself down.

Get To Know You

How well do you really know yourself? Your passions, dreams, interests, the things that set your soul on fire? Spending some time alone can really teach you about the kind of person you want to be and where you want to go in life. Try out that new hobby you’ve been thinking about for a while, learn a new skill, read, write, explore. Figuring out who you are means you have a strong foundation to fall back in should things ever get tough.

We’re all about vibin’ and thrivin’ in 2020 girl, time to join the self love club. And what better way to love yourself than by treating yourself to some new shoes?
