Q + Slay : LFW with @thelaurablair
Still catching up on those fashion week shows? Don’t worry bae, theres still plenty of time to get all the gossip and prepare for next seasons hottest looks. We’ve got something else to add to your reading list, we’ve caught up with blogger bae @thelaurablair to get the lowdown on this years LFW and to pass on any wise words of wisdom to anyone that’s new to the fashion scene.
1) Was this your first time attending LFW? If not, any tips or tricks for fashion week newbies?
This was my fifth year attending London Fashion Week so the tenth time! I’m a bit fashion obsessed so it’s a must for me to go each season. I started off in the fashion industry a long time ago interning for a lot of different companies in fashion journalism, styling and PR. I got to know a lot of people over the years so definitely networking is key and not being afraid to start off at the bottom. The bottom of the fashion industry can be a gritty hard working place but it taught me so much so I’d definitely recommend it!

2) Did you attend any LFW shows and if so what would you say were your faves?
I did every day this year and went to about 7-8 shows per day… in heels (Public Desire of course). London Fashion Week is always a lot of running around so I feel like this is an accomplishment in itself! Every year I swear I will wear flats but the heels just keep getting bigger and better. Pam Hogg is always a firm favourite out of the ones I watched I just love designers that break boundaries. Also Boo Pala has amazing designs and I actually got the chance to wear one of her looks to her show and paired them with some stunning silver Public Desire boots. I love Tommy Hilfiger, Daks, Julien Macdonald, Ashish, Preen By Thornton Bregazzi, Fydor Golan, Anya Hindmarch… the list goes on. Paris is the fashion week I will always geek out over though it’s high fashion at it’s finest!

3) Any upcoming trends you spotted whilst at fashion week that you will be trying out for yourself soon?
Ruffles are bigger and better than ever before which excites me a lot – got to love a ruffle! Baby pink also seemed to be a big trend. One of my favourite things to do after fashion month is sit down with a cup of tea and go through every single show on the Vogue archives to find new trends I can adopt.
Street style is my favourite thing about fashion week, I absolutely love seeing what the ‘glitterati’ wear during LFW. There was some definite trends amongst the fashion crowds for fall – red was huge, along with the oversized check suits!
4) We loved your OOTD for the day with your Public Desire Boots, was there any specific inspo behind your look?
I actually picked the boots out first and planned the outfit around them. Which I actually did for all my looks this year. I have a slight obsession with shoes – it’s all about the shoes! When I started out blogging I had two pairs of shoes to my name, now I have over three hundred, it’s safe to say I’m in the right industry as a shoeaholic! I noticed last season there was a huge trend of over knee slouch boots so when I saw them on the Public Desire website I had to get them. I’m on the hunt for some patent burgundy slouch boots similar to those from the Victoria Beckham AW17 show so I’m hoping to find them soon!
5) Do you have any fashion emergency essentials? Plasters, a quick top up lipstick etc.
A safety pin! You have no idea how creative you can get with a safety pin – I always carry one in my bag. Whether it’s a ripped top, or a pinged off button it’s always best to have one handy. Sometimes if I don’t like what I’m wearing I will change things up with a pin by gathering the neckline or tucking the hem!
