BOSS BAES: Pippa, Content Manager
We’re gonna make ‘Seventeen the sassiest year yet. With this in mind, we’re catching up with our Boss Baes who are killing the game in their fields RN to discuss lattes, late nights and life as a PD Bae. First up is Content Manager Pippa Bugg.
Pippa Bugg, Content Manager
Work hard, slay hard.
I start my day… by hitting snooze at least three times, and consequently leaving the house late… Because I spend 85% of my day staring at a computer, phone or camera screen, I like to walk to work (it takes an hour. I know. Why?). En route I’ll normally grab a pretentious soy latte at an overpriced café with smashed avocado on the menu.
Put the bae into basic.
A standard day includes… a lot of multi-tasking. My background in digital has mainly been in-house for fashion brands and department stores, so working at an all-female agency has been a bit of a change. It’s been a much more hands on approach – with smaller budgets and lots of clients, you have to be somewhat of a multi-tasker too. Since I joined the company last year, I’ve become an unofficial ‘office photographer’, alongside my day-to-day work.
I’m responsible for creating blog content in my role, and recently I interviewed blogger Jim Chapman. We had pretty good rapport, until I coolly leaned on a shelf and sent its contents flying across the salon we were in.
Getting the gig.
My first job was… at BHS Head Office. I was an E-commerce Merchandise Associate, meaning I uploaded product to their website. The company has since closed down – they no-doubt went into disrepute after I left.
I started slayin’ in my career when… at 20 I was offered a job in the social media department at Harrods; that was where my career in fashion and retail really developed from. My office was directly behind the store and every day was so varied. Sometimes I’d be Instagramming £10 million rings, and others I’d be ‘taste-testing’ gourmet burgers. Dream.
Throwin’ it back to the time I killed it when… at Harrods, I got to work closely with celebrities and designers. Probably the two most standout meetings I had were interviewing Jeremy Scott, and Candice Swanepoel – the Victoria’s Secret model. When I met Candice she told me I was tiny and I reverted to a teenage-me meeting Duncan from Blue.
Out Of Office.
When it comes to power dressing, the shoes that make me feel like a boss bae are… trainers. Almost always trainers. I love loud, printed Nikes, but if I’m feeling swanky, you’ll find me in black ankle boots. Yes, I know, I’m boring, Being fun is overrated anyway.
To stay sassy out of hours, I… write a lot, and mainly about dating. I started my blog pipbugg.com about three years ago, and you should definitely read it if you’re single (or in a relationship and want to know what you’re missing out on). It’s rarely serious, and mainly just pokes fun at my own misfortunes.
If I’m not writing, you’ll find me at my gym in Hackney, or binging on Netflix while in the bath (well, hopefully you don’t actually find me).
